Grandma's apple crumble cake made from shortcrust pastry is a true classic for a good reason: deliciously buttery, fruity, moist.
An absolute classic: Deliciously moist and buttery apple pie with crumbles. Because the base and crumble are made from the same dough, this is a quick recipe.

Apple crumble cake is easy to make for coffee, parties, garden parties, and kindergarten. Anyone who likes buttery crumbles and moist apples will love it! And with my easy recipe for apple pie with crumble, you're sure to succeed. There are quite different recipe variants, sometimes with cake batter and sometimes with yeast dough. All delicious, of course.
Ingredients
The best apple pie with crumble is based on a kneaded dough or stirred shortcrust pastry. There you realize once again that butter is a great flavor carrier 😉 . The apple crumble cake is quick to make: you only need to prepare a single dough. While other recipes consist of two doughs for the base and crumble, they are one and the same here. Which is, of course, much less complicated in the end. The kneaded dough for the crumble base cake with apples does not need to cool before you use it. One part hits the spot quickly on the bottom and on the edge of the springform pan, and one part on top of the apple mixture.
The small catch to the recipe 😉 : Let the cake cool completely before cutting it. Then it will be more stable. If you're not hit the perfect look, the apple cake with crumbles still tastes warm but honestly incredibly stunning….
How to make the Apple Crumble Cake
Let's get started. First of all, line the bottom 10 in / 26 cm springform pan with baking paper, lightly grease the edges, and dust with flour. Now, knead all ingredients into a crumble dough (stirred shortcrust). Then, refrigerate, wrapped, for about 15 minutes. Remove about two-thirds for the bottom and sides, form a ball from it, and roll it out slightly larger than the baking dish size. Or directly spread the crumble in the mold, press it together, and raise a rim.
After that, preheat the oven to 360°F/180°C. Peel and clean apples and cut them into cubes. Mix with sugar, juice, and cinnamon. Spread the apple mixture on the base. Sprinkle the remaining crumble on top. In the end, bake the cake for about 55 minutes, covering it towards the end if necessary so it doesn't get too dark. Let cool in the pan, only then loosen. Enjoy!
Top Tip
The recipe is basic and reminds me of grandma's covered apple pie. As with this, you can also wonderfully refine the apple filling by adding raisins, chopped almonds, or nuts, for example. Personally, it has to be an apple crumble cake with cinnamon. More is more there 😉.
